The Non-Blog Post

By Barry Rudesill
Today, I have a TON of paperwork to get done. I have gutters to still hang on my house. I have letters to write, people to contact, and a thousand other things to do. I'm sure many of you feel the same way.

But, despite the overwhelming workload, I am getting ready to take a break. Why?

Because it's snowing outside, and I LOVE snow! Also, my wife got me a Swedish "rotary candle holder" that's a shiny-thing powered by a candle. (I’m ADHD, and “shiny things” are always fun!) Finally, I need to switch the music to Christmas carols. Yep, after I'm done with this post, I'm going to take ten minutes out of my day and watch the snow fall.

You see, in this world, there is ALWAYS something more to do; some other person to talk to, some other piece of paper that needs filled out. It's just the nature of our modern life.

But, if I never take the time to enjoy the world around me, if I never take the time to rest, if I never take the time to watch the snow fall, then why bother? If my life is a continual race, if I can't slow down or even stop for a moment, then where's the joy? Finally, if I can’t stop for ten minutes...I need to be asking myself, “Why not?”

You see, we’re not made to run 24/7/365! In fact, if we try, it’s a great way to break down our bodies, our minds, and our souls. We are made to have times of rest!

Today, ten minutes is about all I can spare, but it’s enough. Why? Because for ten minutes, I can clear my head, slow down, and appreciate...life. And that’s something that we all need to do from time to time!

So forgive me for a short post, but I need to go do some serious “work” and watch the snow!

We hope you take some time today to enjoy your journey!
